How do I contact you?

To enquire for your wedding day you can contact me via my bridal enquiry form. I cannot quote unless my bridal enquiry form has been completed. Every bride must have completed a bridal enquiry form in order to proceed to the next steps within the booking process. You can find my bridal enquiry form here.

What are your contact details?

My email address is: makeup.gem@yahoo.com - My mobile number is not public for safety reasons. Only those who have booked me will be able to have my mobile number. This must not be shared without my permission. Should any of my brides wish to have a phone call this will need to be scheduled due to the high level of travelling I cannot always answer my phone. I would love to give you my full attention whilst enquiring. I require all business communication to be in writing. Phone calls are more of a personal call regarding makeup ideas and questions. I am also contactable via instagram. @gemmatutt_mua

How long do you take to reply to bridal enquiries?

Bridal enquiry forms I can take between 2-3 days to respond too. After 5 days an email will be sent confirming I have replied. This is in regards to if I am available or unavailable. Every bridal form will be replied too regardless of my availability. Please ensure you are checking your inbox and spam mail daily once you have submitted a form. Alternatively please add my email address to your contacts to you don't miss my reply.

What are your working hours?

My makeup / wedding working hours are between 7am - 5pm. Admin is carried out on a Monday - Friday. Any messages between 9pm - 7am will not be replied too until my next working day or admin day. During peak wedding season my admin may not be carried out daily resulting in a slightly longer response time than usual. On average all emails and messages will have been responded to within 2-4 working days.

Where are you based?

I am a mobile makeup artist based in Hoo, Medway. My studio address is private and only shared strictly with clientele.

Where will you travel to?

For bridal bookings I will travel where required. The main counties I cover are Kent, Essex, East and West Sussex and Surrey.

How do you calculate travel charges?

Travel charges are based upon 60p (2024) and 70p (2025/2026) per mile there and back if the location is over 15 miles away. Any toll charges, parking charges or additional charges will be added on top. Please ensure you are aware of my travel charges and how they may apply to your booking before enquiring.

Can I travel to you for my bridal trial?

This will be possible from 2024 in my new glam studio. I am yet to confirm a completion date. I am currently only fully mobile travelling to all brides to be for their bridal trials.

Why do you charge an out of county fee?

The out of county fee is to cover me travelling to an area I do not cover or that is not listed above. Should you change your venue to an area I do not cover this additional charge will be required to be paid to cover the excess travelling required.

How far in advance are you taking bookings?

I am taking bookings up until 31st August 2026.

Do you have a minimum booking requirement for bridal?

Yes, however this is determined per enquiry and dependant on the distance along with the time of year. In peak wedding season (May - Sept) a minimum booking requirement estimating x3-4 makeups will be in place.

Flower girls and trials are not included within your bridal party numbers.

Single bride bookings can only be booked in the following months: January and February. Unfortunately I cannot book in single bride bookings throughout the rest of the year.

Do I have to have a bridal trial?

Yes. Bridal trials are compulsory. This is our chance to meet and get to know each other, chat all things wedding and also determine your makeup style for the wedding day. I do not believe in risking leaving such an important decision to the wedding day without the full confidence in my services. I also like to ensure I have met my brides prior to their final payment deadlines. This means you can pay the full balance with full confidence in me as your supplier and knowing you will be happy with my services.

How many of my bridal party should have a trial?

It is compulsory for the bride to have a bridal trial. However it is totally optional for any of your bridal party to have a trial. To have timings run smoother on the wedding day I usually suggest for at least 1 bridesmaid to have a trial so we can pre decide the bridesmaids look. I strongly recommend any 'mothers of' to have trials if they have never had their makeup done before and are in any way anxious about the makeup.

How many makeups will you do in one booking?

I am comfortable to take on maximum x5-6 makeups within 1 booking - solely dependant on the time scale given to me. I can help you find an assisting artist for any extra makeups added.

Will you hire on additional makeup artists to the booking?

For large bookings or bookings that have a short time frame to get ready in I will look into hiring on an additional makeup artist. A assisting artist finders fee will be added onto the booking due to me having to source, communicate, book and pay the additional artist. Any additional travel charge the second artist requires will also bee added to your invoice. A second artist is never guaranteed. Should I not be able to source a second artist the responsibility of this falls to the client. Any artist that I hire on is an individual - sole trader like myself. GemMakeup does not hold any liability or responsibility of the second artist and the second artist is working for themselves.

Do you have a recommendation list for other suppliers?

I have a recommendation list of lovely suppliers who I love working with, who's work I hold to a high standard and work well with. My recommendation list is exclusively available to those who book me. I would not be aware of any suppliers availability or pricing. A bride would need to enquire with each supplier themselves. GemMakeup is a individual business and not an agency or bridal directory - the recommended supplier list will not be sent to anyone who is enquiring - only to those who have secured Gemma.

How long do you take per person?

My timings will vary per person and per booking depending on the style of makeup chosen. I average my bridal bookings (bridesmaid and mothers of) makeup to take roughly 1 hour per person. I ideally like to spend around 1hour 15/30 minutes on the bride. I always allow a little extra timing on my bookings by 15 minutes should we run over. Please allow enough time from myself arriving to set up before I start the first makeup.

Are you insured?

Yes, I am a fully insured specialist member with BABTAC. My insurance can be supplied on request to bridal venues or hotels only. Please request your venue to contact me on the following email address for more details. makeup.gem@yahoo.com

What happens once all makeups have been completed?

Once everyones makeup has been completed I will begin to tidy my work area and then request each person come back to me in order of makeups completed for top ups. Photographer images may be taken in this time also. I will also stay until you all have your dresses on to ensure makeup is perfect up until the minute you leave. Nothing is too much and I hope that I can be a calm presence to your big day.

One of my bridesmaids / member of my bridal party no longer wants makeup done, what do I do?

Upon booking you will be sent GemMakeup bridal T+Cs which will state bookings can change prior to the final balance being paid. However bridal party numbers but must NOT go below the minimum booking requirement stated on your quote. Should the full balance be paid and a member of the bridal party no longer wants makeup done or drops out I suggest to avoid money loss for yourselves ask someone else if they would like their makeup done as a replacement. The makeup will not be refunded should you not fill their space.

Can I have a trial prior to securing?

Unfortunately I cannot offer having a trial prior to securing your wedding date - due to being in high demand and my availability changing daily I am unable to hold dates without a save the date booking fee. If you are booking really in advance I would highly recommend booking in for a glam makeup should you have any special occasions coming up. This will be a good way to see if you like my makeup style. Once this has been carried out you can then enquire for your wedding date.

If I am not happy with my bridal trial can I be refunded?

Unfortunately due to the service being a trial you cannot be refunded should you be dissatisfied with the makeup. The purpose of your trial is to determine wether you wish to book or decide / trial what makeup you wish to have for the wedding day. It is ideal if you have some reference pictures of makeup you like or a photo of yourself with how you would normally wear your makeup.

Do you do any bridal offers or packages?

Unfortunately I do not have any packages at this current time. Pricing is on a per person basis and enquiry basis only. Seasonally I may have offers for a short period of time which I will actively post on my social pages. To view my social pages please click the social buttons at the top of this website.

What booking options do you offer?

I offer two booking options. These are listed in my bridal T+Cs. To view my current T+Cs booking options please click here.

I have a question not listed here, how should I contact you?

Please ensure all questions have been thoroughly read along with GemMakeup Bridal T+Cs. Should you still have a question please contact Gemma via Instagram or Facebook or email. makeup.gem@yahoo.com

I want to cancel my booking with you. Will my booking fee be refunded?

Should you wish to cancel your booking please ensure you have fully read GemMakeup Bridal T+Cs. A cancellation fee will apply which will be either your full 50% booking fee or your full save the date booking fee as you, the client, are cancelling your booking which could have been booked by another potential bride and has involved admin services to be carried out by Gemma. Your booking fee will be lost and cannot be used for another booking or transferred. Please find the GemMakeup bridal cancellation policy Section 6 of GemMakeup T+Cs. View GemMakeup bridal cancellation policy here.

In the event you cancel (under 1 months notice to your wedding date) and have paid your full amount by the payment deadline date indicated in your invoice, this along with the booking fee will not be refunded. The deadline date is in place to fully secure your wedding booking to go ahead with 1 months notice. Should you cancel prior to your payment deadline date you will not have to pay the remainder due but you will lose your deposit.
