Welcome to my website! I am excited for you to find out a little more about me. First of all... Hi i'm Gemma! I am 28 years old and I'm a professional freelance Makeup Artist based in Dartford, Kent. (Soon to be Hoo, Medway)

I specialise in bridal makeup and I am a fully insured specialist member of BABTAC. I have been in the makeup industry for 12 years now! I spent my first 4 years studying Tv & Film specialist makeup at college/university from 2012-2016 and I graduated with a BA honours degree in Specialist Makeup. Whilst studying I went on to work for a well known makeup brand and it was whilst working on counter I discovered my love for the glam that is bridal makeup. I went on to launch GemMakeup in 2017 and have worked as a full time freelance makeup artist since. I have now carried out over 200+ weddings!​

I take great pride in my kit being organised and cleaned to perfection - I also love a 'kit pic' from photographers! I am an absolute perfectionist and a little OCD with my kit. My love for high end makeup products has become quite the obsession of mine. In my kit you'll find brands such as: Nars, Hourglass, Armani, Dior, Charlotte Tilbury, Rare beauty, Urban Decay, Makeup by Mario, Too faced, Patrick Ta and many more! I also aim in the future to contain a makeup kit that is entirely PETA / leaping bunny approved and cruelty free as this is something I really care about. I can cater to brides who also wish for only cruelty free products to be used. My makeup brushes are also made from synthetic materials making them vegan and cruelty free.

Let's get a little personal! I am a huge animal lover! If I am lucky enough to also meet your fur babies at trials or even on your wedding day I will be sure to give them all the pets and cuddles! I am also an identical twin! You may see her on my instagram every so often! I am a cat mum to my little chocolate British shorthair Cleo! If you come to me for your bridal trial the perk will be kitten cuddles!! I hope that on your bridal journey you feel super comfortable with me - so many of my lovely brides I now call friends!

A little insight to my makeup style... What can you expect from booking me? Read below!

I describe my style of makeup as soft but still glam! Soft tones, blended contours, no harsh lines (of course with the exception of a winged liner) and flawless radiant skin. I love nothing more than to enhance features, making your makeup feel as comfortable and weightless as possible and making you feel like the best version of yourself. My job is and means so much more than just makeup application.... it's creating memories and seeing you become the radiant and beautiful bride you dream to be! Your bridal makeup is such an important investment for your wedding day!

I pride myself on my professionalism, friendly and calm nature. I love taking my time to get to know you before your special day and on the wedding day ensure that nothing feels rushed (but of course still on time) and hope that you feel supported by me. I like all of my bridal parties to be makeup ready an hour and a half before the ceremony - this will allow plenty of time for pictures, makeup top ups and most importantly create a calm atmosphere! You will rarely see pictures of me as my sole focus is on my bridal parties that I have the pleasure to glam. ​

 

I thoroughly enjoy being a part of such a big day and meeting all of my lovely bridal parties! I also love to go beyond my roll as your makeup artist and help out in any way I can. This can be helping your bridesmaids into their dresses, making sure your flowers are as the florist instructed, assist with buttoning up your dress and staying with you up until your ceremony time so I can ensure everything runs smoothly and your makeup is completed to perfection! I only take on one wedding a day to ensure I am solely yours and so you know I am fully committed to you and that you are my priority.

I am fully mobile for all bookings providing you with being in the comfort of your own home. In 2024 I will be opening the doors to my NEW glam studio (whilst also still being mobile) for my lovely brides to be who would love to travel to me. I am so excited for this next big step and can't wait for you all to have an even more luxury experience with me.  For larger bridal parties I can hire a second makeup artist or recommend someone to assist. I work alongside makeup artists who I feel provide the same level of skill to ensure your bridal party can feel confident with either artist. I also have a recommendation list of hair stylists exclusively for my brides who have booked with me but are yet to find a hairstylist or prefer someone I usually tag team with.

From the enquiry process to the big day I like to make sure you have a smooth and enjoyable experience from booking with me! I love to create beautiful memories through the art of makeup whilst also bringing a calm energy on the morning of your wedding glam!
